It is always a pleasure to highlight some of the philanthropic work done by the submarine cable industry. Two submarine fiber optic cable system operators in Africa have recently reported on their efforts.
SEACOM, which operators a cable system in East Africa, noted a number of its efforts in the region at the anniversary of its commercial launch (known as Foundation Day). These are described here. In addition, SEACOM also announced that it is supporting innovation and incubation hubs in Kenya and Uganda.
